The Old Vicarage Christchurch Wedding

I have been meaning to post this wedding on my blog for quite a while now. Lorraine and Paul got married last April, at the Old Vicarage in Christchurch.

I have worked at this venue quite a few times now and it always amazes me how every couple’s personal touches make this place look so different every time.

Apart from the stunning floral decorations, many personal touches and a warm atmosphere, there were also some lovely Danish traditions carried out during the day. I have to say, as I have been told by one of the guests, one of the loveliest Danish wedding traditions is that the Danes have always married for love. Hospitality and family are very important and I loved how Lorraine and Paul’s wedding retained that Danish sense of celebration.

While enjoying looking through this post, you might notice a couple of photos of bride and groom standing on chairs and kissing – bizarre you might think – but this is actually one of the other Danish wedding traditions that Lorraine and Paul were led by their guests to perform. One of the guests would stamp their feet or clink their glasses with their cutlery – setting this off and all the guests would join in, cheering and prompting the bride and groom to kiss.

At the end of this post you will also see some funny evening moments. And here is another Danish tradition – this must be my favourite one! Right at the end of the first dance, the groomsmen grabbed the groom and removed his shoes and socks. Once those socks were off, they were cut up – symbolically to test the new wife’s sewing skills.

Well, this was fun! Lorraine and Paul, thank you so much for having me. I LOVED being there at your wedding!

The Review

Here is the lovely review that I received from Lorraine and Paul after I delivered their photos – I have to say – I love my job.

“We cannot recommend Kasia highly enough – she was professional, friendly, approachable and we LOVE her style of photography. She was incredibly discreet so we have loads of great natural shots of Guests. She captured the day beautifully and we have absolutely no regrets in booking her for our wedding!”
